Jane Rigler

SCORE: Imaginary Meditations

Flutist, composer, and improviser JANE RIGLER creates pieces that play with hidden languages, recall ancestral songs, incorporate playful game techniques and ask the performers to imagine and improvise. She is particularly interested in the relationship between the physicality of performance and sound. Her on-going work with professional dancers, Noh theater actors and Alexander Technique specialists have influenced her most recent pieces, which require movement and exploration of spaces. She has received artist residencies from iEar@RPI (2006), Hambidge (2010), UCROSS (2012), Harvestworks (2005, 2008, 2016) and Civitella Ranieri (through Composers Now) in 2016 and the Montalvo Lukas Artists Residency (2017).
