Inis Cealtra Stroll

COMPOSER: Sean Taylor

On Saturday, 20th August 2016, Sean Taylor and Mikael Fernström undertook a Creative Sound-walk with members of the public, on Holy Island (Inis Cealtra in Irish), Lough Derg, County Clare. The island is unique in that there are monuments and artifacts that date back to the 8th century. Upon completion of the Creative Soundwalk participants were invited to collectively create a soundmap of their experience. Participants were then encouraged to consider the soundmap that they had co-authored, as a graphic or ‘aural score’ for a further live ‘sounding’ group performance. This recording is one of a number of live performances of the graphic score by the group in Mountshannon, County Clare, immediately after the completed sound-walk. Anybody can perform the sound map/aural score even though they did not participate in the original soundwalk in Ireland, and it may either be played by musicians, sounded or a combination of both modes.

Performance of work:

Anybody can perform the sound map/aural score even though they did not participate in the original soundwalk in Ireland, and it may either be played by musicians, sounded or a combination of both modes. It would be great if some of the Deep Listeners could perform this work at the celebration, record it and share it back. If not the map and audio can be displayed.
